What is Tin Can?

Tin Can is a screen-free, kid-friendly home phone that lets kids call and receive calls from approved contacts giving them independence without the risks of smartphones or internet access.

Can Tin Cans call regular phone numbers?

If on the Party Line Plan ($9.99/month) they can call anyone that you add as an “approved contact” in the mobile app. This includes external numbers (e.g. cell phones, landlines, etc). Additionally, they can call other Tin Cans that you approve; Can2Can calling is available on both the Partly Line Plan and the Can2Can plan (no monthly subscription required).

Can a Tin Can call other Tin Cans?

Yes! Whether you’re on the free or paid plan, you’ll be able to call other Tin Cans.

Can people call into the Tin Can?

Yes anyone on We approved list can call your Tin Can (including approved external numbers if you have the Party Line Plan ($9.99/month)

Does Tin Can support 911 calls?

Yes, you can enable 911 emergency calling from the Tin Can mobile app. You can also disable it if your kids aren’t ready for this feature

Is the Tin Can wireless?

Nope, sure isn’t! And we designed it that way. Conversations are richer when we’re not running around, and it also keeps Tin Cuns away from the dinner table.

Does Tin Can need a landline or phone jack to work?

Nope Tin Can looks like a classic landline, but it runs entirely on Wi-Fi- no phone jack required. Plug it in, connect it to Wi-Fi via the parent companion app available on iOS and Android and you’re ready to ring.

What happens when quiet hours are turned on?

Quiet hours fully disable both incoming and outgoing calls. It’s perfect for bedtime, study time, or anytime you want the phone take a break. If you have 911 enabled, however, you’ll still be able to dial 911 during quiet hours.
